To accommodate the growing need and demand of the Des Moines International Airport, Turner in conjunction with our joint venture partner, is providing Construction Manager at Risk services for the new 240,000 sq. ft. terminal project set for arrival in the fall of 2028. Committed to supporting the mission of The Des Moines Airport Authority, the project is aimed at growing alongside the community to meet unprecedented passenger growth and evolving travel needs. Focused on the future and streamlining the travel journey, the new terminal project will spearhead growing our local economy.
A New Front Door to Des Moines.
Phase 1A consists of a new ground up 240,000 sq. ft. terminal that will connect to the existing concourse. The new terminal will consist of five new gates, check-in, baggage handling system, security screening and food halls. The existing Concourse A and C will go under a limited modernization and re-purposing. The scope also includes a new terminal apron, taxiway, new public, and commercial roadway in front of the new terminal and demolition of the existing terminal.
The new Phase 1A terminal is the first Construction Manager at Risk public project for Iowa under the new Senate File 183 legislature. Leading the charge for the state of Iowa, The Airport Authority has set the precedence and has helped surrounding municipalities and agencies understand the importance of the Construction Manager at Risk procurement process for public projects of all sizes.
